Kevin McKrell
Saturday, March 8 at 7:30 pm

Somewhere tonight, across the country or across the sea, a singer, sitting on a stool on a pub’s corner stage, is belting out a Kevin McKrell song, and the crowd is singing along. McKrell pioneered American Celtic music beginning in 1979 with Donnybrook Fair, playing Irish Festivals across the country and even Lincoln Center. McKrell is also a respected painter, and some paintings may travel to Oxford with him for this evening. Joining McKrell on this evening will be Fiddler Frank Orsini and bass player Arlin Greene.

Abby Posner
Saturday, April 12 at 7:30 pm

Abby Posner has been a working musician in Los Angeles for the past 18 years. She is best known for her ability to play nearly any instrument that she can lay her hands on. If you have seen Abby perform live, you know she can play a mean lead-blues guitar solo,
or throw down a complex Earl Scruggs banjo riff. You also may have spotted her playing drums, mandolin, or bass while using her looping pedal. In addition to her versatility, she puts passion and soul into everything she plays. Her music runs the gamut from Folk to Roots to Americana and is not afraid to lean on the blues or sometimes indie pop. She is as varied musically as the instruments she plays.

John Flynn
Saturday, May 31 at 7:30 pm

John Flynn is an American singer-songwriter and activist known for his powerful music and tireless efforts on behalf of the lost and the lonely, the shackled and scarred. His career has embodied an authentic troubadour odyssey that moved legendary folk DJ Gene Shay to call Flynn "the most quintessential folk singer in my life".
Over three and a half decades, John Flynn’s music has carried him from Jersey shore bars to Nashville’s Music Row; from home plate performances in major league ballparks to concerts in maximum-security prisons; from star-studded benefit shows at Tipitina’s in New Orleans to awareness-building appearances at the Walter Reed Military Hospital and the Dover Air Force Base. Along the way Flynn has continued to make new friends and fans as he has given of his defiantly unguarded heart and optimistic spirit from large and small stages, living rooms, pulpits and schools across this country.

18th Anniversary Celebration with
Vance Gilbert
Saturday, June 21 at 7:30 pm

We’re celebrating 6 On The Square’s 18th anniversary with beloved performer Vance Gilbert! “If Joni Mitchell and Richie Havens had a love child, with Rodney Dangerfield as the midwife, the results might be something close to the great Vance Gilbert", says Richmond Magazine. 30 years into his career, the songwriter’s influence can be felt all over the contemporary Folk and Americana realm as he has helped pave the way for many of the BIPOC artists who have followed. Vance was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. Starting out hoping to be an R&B and jazz singer once at college, there he discovered his affinity for the storytelling sensibilities of the acoustic singer-songwriter thing. Word spread like wildfire about Gilbert's stage-owning singing and playing, and Shawn Colvin invited him to be special guest on her 1992 Fat City tour where he took much of America by storm and by surprise. “With the voice of an angel, the wit of a devil, and the guitar playing of a god..” wrote the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
